Bundanoon 2010

Gatherings

92, Sky was Blue and Lots of Gordon tartan too.

Bundanoon 2010 was a great day all round, the weather was magnificent which brought a huge crowd, the largest for years and we had plenty of people through the Clan area. As usual we had a great display and lots of Gordon Clansmen stopping by to say hello or buying some clan items. We had a raffle of a Giant kilted teddy we affectionately called “Craig Gordon” and a magic Gordon knitted piper made especially for us by Narelle Bergquist who does the most exquisite work. We thank her for that and we believe she is making another to be our ‘mascot’. (Not for raffling or sale I’m sorry)

The day was special as we sponsored the inaugural appearance of the 92nd Gordon Highlanders re-enactment group who worked out of our tent this year. We have been actively recruiting for over twelve months and this was the culmination of that work. Unfortunately due to the many hours required to sew the uniforms we only managed two soldiers but we have many waiting in the wings and by next year there will be a much larger contingent. We recruited another possible eight recruits on the day. If your interested check out their section under “92nd Re-enactors”. Rob and Chris Whittaker have a fabulous knowledge and are a lot of fun. We enjoyed our time together and hope it will be the beginning of many more happy get togethers. Well done Clansmen!

I wish to thank Andrew and Cheryl Bergquist for all the assistance in preparation of buttons, magnets and bits and Andrew’s huge effort in getting the Website up and running . We also thank Lynne Badger, Cheryl and Colette for all the sewing, T shirt preps, ironing and wrapping etc it all looked beautiful thank you. On the Day our staff Neville Badger, Steven and Norah Craig worked tirelessly answering questions , talking to other clans and for their support we thank them all. The whole team has spent many hours working behind the scenes making up show bags, sewing, making streamers and preparing all the bits and bobs. The Clan tent was as usual great and very busy.

The Web site as you can see will now be our main communication and members will get their newsletters from here very shortly. We are in the process of completing the membership pages and Paypal so we hope this will be in operation by the end of next week. Coming up we will have new pages available such as a News/calendar page, In search of page, Merchandise page and shopping cart. Andrew is currently working on an Individual Gatherings pages and a Photo Gallery. If you have any news or photos email them to our webmaster, we would love to add your wedding pics or new arrival baby photos etc.

Our congratulation to the Clan McGregor who won the Spirit of the day award this year because of their show of strength, they had sixty marchers on the Parade. Well done guys. Next year GORDONS we want you to come and boost our ranks you only have to wear something with Gordon Tartan. WE WILL REMIND YOU when its getting close and expect a better showing please.

All in all we had a great day and it was lovely to see so many of you again . We will be going to Berry, Wingham and Aberdeen next so hope to see you there.
